My paintings reflect the images and colours of my childhood in India and a family love of art inherited from my father. The work of the Old Masters Titian, da Vinci, Rembrandt, Rubens and the Impressionists have been and continue to be a great inspiration. Giacometti, Bacon and Uglow are more recent influences. The deconstruction style of 20th century artists such as de Kooning and Severini inspire the way I see and paint today.
In my work, I like to retain an element of the drawing line, 'drawing' with paint. I have become increasingly interested in presenting multiple views or leaving out much of the detail of the original view for the viewer to complete or make of it as they wish. I particularly enjoy presenting people, objects and buildings out of their logical existence much as we do in our memories.
